On Hawaiʻi Island’s Upolu Point, Hawi Wind Farm has brought clean power to over 2100 households in the Kohala community, plus additional power transmitted to other parts of the island, for 15 years. The project’s 16 wind turbines spread across 250 acres of ranch land deliver 10.56 MW generating capacity while also supporting a cattle ranch on the grounds.
The project’s Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO) is proposed to be extended for 20 years. Minor equipment refurbishing will be completed as part of the repowering plan.
